Hey kids! Do you have any favorite scripture heroes? Write and tell us who YOU like to read about in the scriptures. Here are what other kids your age have to say about their scripture heroes.
"I love Moses and how he protected the Israelites. He had faith in the Lord." --Drew, age 5
"I like Noah because he took the animals two by two off the land, and I love animals. Noah cared for the animals of the world!" --Micah, age 7
"I like Helaman because he had faithful “sons” and he was a great warrior. The “sons” of Helaman learned from their mothers that they should be righteous. They should pray and keep the commandments and have faith in God. They loved Helaman and looked up to him and chose Helaman to be their leader when they went to war. They listened and obeyed everything that Helaman said. Helaman loved those young men and called them his “sons” because they were close to him like his own family! From the story of Helaman and his sons, I can learn that if I’m obedient and good, I will be blessed." --Alexander, age 7
"My favorite Book of Mormon hero is Nephi. I like him because he’s at the beginning of the Book of Mormon. He did a lot of things that Heavenly Father asked him to do. He left Jerusalem with his family. Then he went back to Jerusalem for the brass plates. He built a ship to sail to the new world. From Nephi, I learned about faith and obeying. Nephi said, “I will go and do the things the Lord commands!” --Leah, age 5
"I like the Brother of Jared. He had so much faith that he saw Jesus. He showed faith when he followed the Lord to get into the boats and take his family to the promised land. I learned from the Brother of Jared that with great faith, you can do just about anything." --Cassie, age 11
"My favorite Book of Mormon character is Nephi because he was a prophet who had many things to do! He had so many tests! When he was getting the plates from Laban, his brothers weren’t very happy with him and tried to hit him with a stick. An angel had to come and save him! The angel asked Laman and Lemuel why they were hitting Nephi for trying to do what is right. From Nephi I learned that prophets are always righteous, and sometimes in your life you might have hard times like Nephi, but with faith, you can always deal with it!" --Katie, age 9
"Ammon is my favorite hero because when he had to watch the sheep of the king of the Lamanites, he showed courage and faith in God to protect him. If you have faith in Heavenly Father, he will bless you!" --Jackson, age 7

"And how do you get...a testimony? Well, there’s no new technology for that, nor will there ever be. You cannot do a Google search to gain a testimony. You can’t text message faith. You gain a vibrant,life-changing testimony today the same way it has always been done. The process hasn’t been changed. It comes through desire, study, prayer, obedience, and service." (Elder M. Russell Ballard, "Learning the Lessons of the Past," Ensign, May 2009, p. 34)

"I had a few really great curriculum items fall into my lap, but they still didn't have the LDS background I was looking for…I searched a little bit harder and I found a true treasure!"
